Questions
Here's what people usually ask.
How is this different from Akismet?
Akismet matches comments against a database of known spam patterns. RightComments uses AI to read and understand each comment, catching subtle promotional content and AI-generated spam that pattern matching misses. It also costs less than Akismet's commercial plans.
Will it slow down my WordPress site?
No. Comments are scanned on edge servers, not on your WordPress hosting. There's zero additional load on your site. Most comments are analyzed in under a second.
What happens if a real comment gets flagged?
Flagged comments go to your WordPress spam folder. They're never deleted. You can review and restore them anytime. The AI is context-aware, so false positives are much rarer than with keyword-based filters.
Does it work with my WordPress theme and plugins?
Yes. RightComments hooks into the standard WordPress comment system, so it works with any theme. It runs alongside other plugins you're already using, including page builders, caching plugins, and SEO tools.
Do I need a paid plan?
You can start free with no credit card required. The Basic plan at $8.99/month covers 1,000 comments scanned per month, enough for most blogs and small business sites. If you're spending even 15 minutes a day moderating spam, it pays for itself in the first week.
What about privacy and GDPR?
Comments are processed on edge servers and are not stored or used for training. We don't collect personal data beyond what's needed to analyze the comment. The plugin doesn't add cookies or tracking scripts to your site.
How long does setup take?
About 2 minutes. Install the WordPress plugin, enter your API key from your RightComments dashboard, and you're protected. No configuration or fine-tuning needed. It works out of the box.
