Pause and Resume Scanning
Temporarily stop the AI from scanning new comments without uninstalling the plugin.
If you need to stop RightComments from scanning comments — for example, during a planned high-volume comment campaign, while debugging another plugin, or while clearing a backlog — you can pause scanning from your dashboard.
How to pause
- Open your
- On the WordPress Plugin card, click Pause scanning
- A "Scanning is paused" banner appears at the top of the dashboard
While paused:
- New comments arrive in WordPress and follow your normal moderation rules (Akismet, native filters, etc.)
- The AI is not invoked, so no quota is used
- The plugin stays installed and connected — no reconfiguration needed when you resume
- Existing spam in your queue is untouched
How to resume
Click Resume on the paused banner, or open the WordPress Plugin card and click the resume button. Scanning starts again on the next comment posted.
Does pause apply per-site or per-account?
Per API key. If you have one site connected (most users), the toggle pauses everything. If you've connected multiple sites with separate keys, the dashboard toggle controls your primary key. You can manage other keys from Account → API Keys.
Will it affect comments already in my spam folder?
No. Pause only affects future scans. Comments RightComments previously marked as spam stay where they are.
